Originally built in 1824, Stable cottage is a former farm worker’s cottage that has been lovingly restored whilst retaining as many original period features as possible. Original stone walls are exposed on the inside, creating an environment that is lovely and cool in summer but warm and snug in winter.
The accommodation sleeps 4 offering 1 double and 1 twin room. All bedding and towels are provided. The sitting room has an inglenook fireplace as a lovely central feature, which comes complete with an oil fired Rayburn. The spacious bathroom offers both bath and shower. The kitchen/ diner is complete with all the modern electrical appliances you would expect (fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave and conventional cooker) along with a range of kitchen appliances and utensils to cook that special meal and a basic store cupboard, so all you need to do is turn up and relax!
Stable cottage is ideal for couples wanting to relax and unwind, friends to spend a holiday together or family holidays. Children will love Beeches Farm, with the ponies, sheep, ducks and chickens, all who are very friendly and love to meet new friends. Why not collect your eggs for breakfast from our free range hens wandering around the farm?!
Stable Cottage has its own private garden, which is overlooked by the magnificent Beech Tree which gives “Beeches Farm” its name and also has a patio area with tables and chairs and a BBQ - perfect for those long, lazy summer evenings.

Stable Cottage has good transport links (both road and rail) and is situated just a short distance from the A303. If you want to truly explore this lovely area, the cottage is just 10 minutes from Taunton, Somerset’s County Town, offering farmers markets, high street shopping, restaurants, theatre and leisure facilities or approximately 30 minutes from the cathedral city of Exeter. Also within easy reach is the Jurassic coast, Exmoor, Dartmoor and the Quantocks. Close by are a number of good local pubs serving a range of good food and real ales, not to mention local Somerset cider!!
The Blackdown Hills are renowned for their fantastic cycling, walking and riding. We are just 2 minutes walk from the Neroche Herepath Trail, offering a 13.7 miles circular route. So pack the bikes, the kids, the dog (and horses if you have them!) and come and enjoy the excellent views and comfortable surroundings that await you at Stable Cottage.
Additional Information: A welcome parcel of bread, milk, butter, free range eggs (from the farm) tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits are included in the price along with store cupboard basics. Internet access, TV/DVD player.Wifi. Small well-behaved pet welcome (by prior arrangement). Stabling and grazing available for visiting equines. Additional accommodation can be provided in the B&B on Beeches Farm on a room only basis, should this be required. Short breaks available.
